Stefan Hallberg, e-Learning guru with over 20 years of experience in digital learning who has built and run companies with skills transfer as a common thread
Stefan, how come you are still in the industry after so many years?
The more you learn, the more you realize you can't and there is so much left to do. We are now working on stimulating and measuring behavioral change using an app. It's called gamification. In all forms of education, it is really the behavioral change itself that everyone wants, so we focus on that.
How has the market and technology for interactive learning changed and developed in recent years?
It's getting easier, faster and shorter all the time. Long e-learning courses that could last several hours are now broken down into short sessions of 5 minutes or less. If you do it right. It's harder to get the audience's attention so you have to be pithy and stimulate exactly what you want to happen.
What uses do you see for gaming/interactive learning in a more AI-based world?
In our gamification app, it's about stimulating good behaviors and creating good habits. AI is great for that. We are working on implementing AI in the app so that it provides personalized feedback and suggestions for development. It can be linked to health, sales, leadership, safety or sustainability. These are the most common areas for us. Each area has specific behaviors that are good and a lot that can be done wrong too. That's where AI fits very well and we can build data and frameworks to give personalized feedback. The information about what is happening comes from the users or from some other system. The purpose of good behavior is often to achieve some kind of result such as reduced number of accidents or increased sales. It becomes very interesting when you see the link between the development of behavior, what can be influenced and improved results.
