Inspirer of the week - Hugo Boccara

This week we want to highlight Hugo Boccara, CEO and co-founder of the greentech company; Korall Carbon Capture AB, a company focused on innovative solutions in carbon capture.

The environmental technology sector needs more committed and entrepreneurial leaders and Based On People looks forward to following Korall's continued journey with Hugo at the helm.

Hugo, how did you end up in this industry and in a leading position?

I have been passionate about social issues and entrepreneurship since I was a kid. After experimenting with different entrepreneurial projects during my teenage years, I finally started at Chalmers. It was during my master's program at Chalmers Entrepreneurship School that I came into contact with the researchers behind the company's technology. They needed someone who knew the business side of things and I saw the potential in their invention, and that's how it happened.

What value can Korall add and what makes your technology/solution unique?

We have the opportunity to address emissions already in the air and actively reduce them. The technology enables this cheaper, smarter and less energy-intensive than current solutions. The biggest value we bring is to offer flexible solutions in emission reduction. Either by turning the captured carbon dioxide into renewable resources or by storing it permanently.

How do you see the greentech industry developing in the coming years and what will be particularly important for the success of your business ideas/solutions?

Greentech is particularly tricky because the industry is very dependent on policy makers thinking it is important to solve the climate crisis. I think it will be absolutely crucial that companies with high emissions cooperate with us greentech companies. At the same time, there are also high demands on us from greentech that we should be able to deliver large emission reductions at the same price as the customer pays today. Anyone who succeeds in this is likely to have a good case for being successful.
