With your background from KTH, what benefit can you create for your employer or customer?
My education from KTH has given me a solid foundation in advanced mathematics, statistics and programming - tools that are crucial for managing and analyzing large amounts of data. As a data scientist, I can contribute by transforming raw data into insights that companies can use to optimize their operations and increase their profitability. My work is about identifying patterns, solving complex problems and enabling better decision-making. I help companies understand their data and use it strategically, whether it's to streamline internal processes, identify new business opportunities or improve the customer experience.
How do you see developments in your field and where are they heading?
Data science is a relatively young but rapidly growing discipline. Companies are starting to realize that data is one of their most valuable resources, and the role of the data scientist is becoming increasingly central to staying competitive. We see a clear trend towards more companies integrating AI and machine learning into their business processes, which requires deep expertise in the field. I believe that data science will become as self-evident in companies as an IT department or finance function is today. This also means that data scientists will need to develop a broader skill set, from technical expertise to business understanding, in order to create real value.
It has been a bit difficult for you to find an interesting job out there in the current recession, do you have any tips for other recent graduates on how to find their dream job?
The key is to be proactive and persistent. Dare to contact companies you are interested in, even if they are not actively looking for staff. Use networks - both professional and personal - and reach out to former classmates or acquaintances already in the workforce. LinkedIn is an invaluable tool for gaining visibility and building relationships, so make sure to keep your profile updated and active. In addition, continue to develop your skills even after graduation. There are countless online courses and resources that can help you acquire new skills and strengthen your CV. Be active on LinkedIn. For example, post courses you studied after your graduation. Finally, be patient. It may take time to find the right fit, but being determined and flexible will increase your chances of finding a job where you can really make a difference.
