Since November 2019, Based On People has presented the Inspirer of the Week every week. In total, there have been about 30 inspirers since the start. Ulf Lindén, Senior Partner at Based On People. Ulf - what are your spontaneous reflections and thoughts after this cavalcade of inspirers? Why did you take this initiative?
Based On People is a partner-driven organization with a clear focus on developing people and matching business needs with people's capabilities. So people are what we base our entire existence on. We work together to make a difference for our customers. Nothing could be more natural than highlighting people in our network, new and old, who can contribute with inspiration in some way.
The topics covered have included careers and career changes and, of course, how the Covid-19 crisis has affected us this spring.
A selection of comments:
-A large proportion of the inspirers see crises as opportunities instead of threats
-Evaluate and dare to take the step. There are those who have directly ended up in "freeze mode", which gives those who act advantages.
-Several inspirers believe that the role of the leader will become even more important in an increasingly unpredictable world.
-Values and goal images and constantly working with these are becoming more important at a time when many of us work from home.
-It is possible to change quickly when it really matters and when you have no alternative. Something that normally takes a long time to implement is lightning fast when you have the knife at your throat.
-Make sure that the "right people" become aware of your ability and capacity. Put your achievements into words and dare to sell yourself to develop and drive your career.
-Celebrate milestones and dare to talk about them in the right context. Believe in yourself and dare!
How do you choose who will be involved?
We are all involved in coming up with ideas and thoughts about choosing the inspirers. It can be people we meet both privately and at work and who have a story to tell. We are all curious and inquisitive and the fact is that most of us in some way have experiences, lessons and thoughts to contribute that can be linked to leadership, career and development.
Can you share some thoughts, reflections and tensions that have emerged in all the exciting stories. Are there any common features or trends? Something that touches or is particularly clear?
For my own part, there is one inspirer who stands out particularly much; Stefan Olafsson, who went from homeless, criminal and addict via a law degree to permanent employment at a law firm. Such strong-willed movements touch me to the core. Otherwise, I am impressed by the drive, energy and above all determination of the younger generation. Lisa Henning, Veronica Tagebrand and Ida Carleborn are fantastic examples of this.
This week's Inspiratör has been much appreciated - what are your thoughts for the fall? Will you continue and can you share something about which inspirers will get to give their story.
As the interest has been so incredibly great (we even get small hints from our network that you are happy to be involved as an Inspiratör), we have several thoughts about developing the concept. We are looking at adding a YouTube channel and creating unexpected meetings between inspirers with completely different backgrounds.
We will also expand the target group and bring in people with broader backgrounds both in terms of skills and ethnicity. I want to create more exciting meetings with artists, actors, non-profit organizations, sportsmen/women, etc. They all have a lot to teach us in the business world.
Thank you Ulf for inspiring and rewarding reading - looking forward to this fall's energizing reading. Have a great summer!
