Martin, who has participated and what are your spontaneous reflections and thoughts after these workshops?
The participants are leaders from our network, representing several different types of businesses, sectors and areas of responsibility. As we want to create an open, personal and relaxed atmosphere, we conduct each workshop with few participants (max 10 per occasion). It is a great forum for inspiration, exchange of experience and business intelligence. It is a pleasure to moderate these breakfast workshops. I have a "front row seat" and get to share so much knowledge, wisdom, insights and joy.
What themes have there been and what were the thoughts behind the choice of themes?
There have been three different themes; "The art of failure", "Sustainable leadership" and "The new leadership in the new Sweden". Leadership is our passion, and we have the privilege of meeting leaders in different situations every day. These themes have naturally emerged through our conversations, and we want to choose themes that are timely, relevant and engaging.
Can you share some thoughts, reflections and tensions that emerged from the discussions?
So-called "failures" are a great source of creativity and innovation. These are crucial success factors for our businesses in an increasingly unpredictable and dynamic world. We need courageous leaders who create safety and transparency, so that all staff dare to try new ways of working and pioneering ideas.
To future-proof the organization, we as leaders need to create sustainability for both people and products. We need to complement the monetary values with key figures and KPIs that measure health, commitment and passion. Diversity, diversity of perspectives and an inclusive culture are also important factors.
In uncertain times, as we are currently experiencing, it is difficult to set targets and produce relevant forecasts. It is important that the business has a common higher purpose and a clear 'why'. In times of crisis, we as leaders need to lift our gaze and contribute with healthy perspectives. Leaders who stand for inclusion, social responsibility and genuine values become particularly visible in difficult situations. Remote leadership and self-leadership have taken on a new meaning recently. One of the many effects of this is that it unleashes courage, commitment and more individual and creative initiatives.
These breakfast workshops have been much appreciated - what are your thoughts for the fall? Can you share something about what themes will be addressed.
Some questions that often come up are: do we need different leadership profiles to lead the business in growth and liquidation, is there a difference between leading a service company compared to a product company, how important is it that the leader has industry knowledge. These are some examples of possible themes for this fall's breakfast workshop. It is important to be responsive and have your ear to the ground. I look forward with excitement to what happens this fall, and what themes emerge in our daily conversations.
Thank you Martin for inspiring and rewarding workshops - looking forward to the fall conversations. Have a great summer!
