What happened next? Emma Rung recruited as CEO of KRAV

Emma talks about her first time at her new job!

‍Howdid it go from there? Emma Rung - recruited CEO at KRAV

Emma, you have now been just over a year in the role of CEO of KRAV. With a background as Political Advisor at the Government Offices, Program Manager at the Social Entrepreneurship Forum and Secretary General at Fairtrade.

-What were your thoughts when you were recruited for this role?

Yes! I am passionate about the opportunity to let more people join the journey to increased sustainability in their everyday lives. Being given the task of leading the operations of KRAV, the label that is recognized by 99 percent of Swedes and which has a high level of confidence as a sustainability label, feels just right. I was honored, but also humbled by the tough challenges we face in troubled times like these. So I rolled up my sleeves an extra turn and happily said yes.

-How does your role as a leader at KRAV differ from your other leadership roles?

It's a multifaceted job that involves working with both individual farmers and small-scale companies, to some of Sweden's largest companies and global players. The range between one day standing with boots in the soil and learning the benefits of KRAV-certified pig production, to the next day meeting the grocery trade and large company management. The range of actors is unique, makes the mission urgent and important, and is one of the factors that gives me a lot of energy.

-What do you see as the single biggest challenge in developing KRAV and getting more people to join the KRAV label?

The economic situation and a troubled world are external factors that we, like many others, are struggling to keep up with. Internally, the hardest and most enjoyable challenge is to get all the committed people who are passionate about more sustainable food production to stretch their backs, keep their eyes on the horizon and proudly step forward, knowing that we are driving development in the right direction. Even when times are tough. More high-fives are needed out there!
