What happened next? We follow up with Jimmy Dahlström at Ramirent

We follow up our recruited candidate Jimmy Dahlström after a number of years at Ramirent in the role of Head of the Temporary Factory

Meet Jimmy, who a few years ago took on the role as head of "The Temporary Factory" at Ramirent. Jimmy has a long background from the civil engineering industry and a great interest in developing the entire industry and its organizations.

How did you experience the recruitment process and was the assignment at Ramirent as it had been presented to you?

No, the job and the recruitment process were far beyond my expectations! I found the process to be professional and rigorous, which paved the way for me to be a good fit for the role. Ramirent's culture and approach to leadership aligned perfectly with my own, and I was able to contribute from day one with my expertise that complemented the team. I also feel that I have made several new friends in my colleagues.

What does it mean to manage the "Temporary Factory" and how can it contribute to the efficiency of the industry?

It involves a lot of leadership, trying to create a market that doesn't exist. It requires a great deal of enthusiasm balanced with a careful strategy that is ultimately my responsibility that everyone buys into. I have P&L responsibility and am ultimately responsible for the performance and growth of the business unit.

The Temporary Factory includes everything that is not left on site after construction is complete - scaffolding, modules, lifts and much more. To make the job as smooth as possible, there is also a dedicated project management organization on site to ensure that everyone working on site can focus on doing their job as well as possible. A bit like the oil in the machinery, or like the materials manager in a sports team.

We like to see ourselves as enablers to our customers, we create the conditions for them to succeed by allowing them to focus on their core business. We have several successful projects where we have created benefits for customers but also the city's residents, such as Urban Escape, Sergelhuset and Danderyds Hospital. Working with development and innovation in urban planning has always been close to my heart.

What lessons have you learned from your years at Ramirent and how do you see the industry developing in general?

I have learned a lot about myself as a leader but also about team spirit and the importance of a strong team. The civil engineering industry, like many other industries, faces challenges, but I believe that those organizations that are fast in their transition and focus on sustainability, digitization and collaboration will stand strong during the tough times ahead. The Temporary Factory will continue to invest and grow and contribute to better community building.
